University Scholarships

App State is committed to affordability for all students. Each year, the University awards an average of $25 million to students based on need, as well as academic and athletic achievement. On average, about $4.9 million in outside aid is awarded to App State students annually. Visit the Office of Student Financial Aid and University Scholarships website for full information about scholarships at App State.

Continuing Students

The Appalachian Scholarship Application Portal (ASAP) is your best source to apply for a variety of university and academic college scholarships. ASAP is open December 1 through February 7.

Incoming Students

Apply for scholarships in MyMountaineer Portal.

  • Transfer student application open January 15 through March 1
  • First-year student application open August 1 through November 15

External Scholarships

AZVT Laurie Page-Peck Scholarship

The Laurie Page-Peck Scholarship was established by the Association of Zoo Veterinary Technicians (AZVT). Each year, students who are pursuing careers in veterinary technology with an emphasis on zoo care receive $1,000 toward their tuition. Qualified applicants must submit transcripts and create a scientific essay to be read at the organization's annual conference. Award recipients will have their papers published. Learn more

NAVTA Scholarship

The National Association of Veterinary Technicians (NAVTA) Tuition for Vet Techs Scholarship was established in 2022 to help meet the increased need for credentialed veterinary technicians in the animal health profession. Boehringer has committed to funding the Tuition for Vet Techs Scholarship program through 2026. It is available to both current and recent graduates of veterinary technology programs. Learn more

Oxbow Veterinary Technology Exotic Animal Interest Scholarship

Veterinary technicians are essential team members in every veterinary practice. Oxbow understands the need for highly-trained and qualified veterinary technicians, especially in exotic animal medicine. Oxbow Animal Health will award two Veterinary Technology students who show a strong interest in pursuing a career in small and exotic animal medicine two $500 scholarships to pursue their dreams. Zoetis Foundation/AVMF Veterinary Technician Student Scholarship Program

The Zoetis Foundation/AVMF Veterinary Technician Student Scholarship Program was developed to offset educational expenses related to attaining a veterinary education. The program focuses on addressing the issue of student debt and the need to foster diversity in the profession – issues that greatly impact the future of the veterinary profession. Learn more
