BOONE, N.C. — Members of Appalachian State University's Veterinary Technology Program and Beaver College of Health Sciences collaborated to publish a new article in the Summer 2023 edition of the Journal of the Association of Veterinary Technician Educators (JAVTE).
The purpose of the article, titled "One Health and Veterinary Technology Education," was to learn how certified veterinary technicians (CVTs) are contributing to various aspects of One Health, and what specific educational opportunities may need to be created for existing and emerging professional competencies and career paths for CVTs related to One Health. The authors of the study are:
- Dr. Virginia Kiefer Corrigan, director of the Veterinary Technology Program in the Department of Rural Resilience and Innovation
- Billie Comer '23, Population Health Coordinator with High Country Community Health
- Jennifer Schroeder Tyson, lecturer in the Department of Public Health and Exercise Science
- Ann Wortinger, lecturer and content development coordinator in the Veterinary Technology Program in the Department of Rural Resilience and Innovation
