Lisa Wiborg (MSW, LISW-S, C-AAIS) is a licensed independent social worker and Veterinary Social Worker based in Cleveland, Ohio. She earned her MSW from The Ohio State University and completed the post-graduate Veterinary Social Work certificate at University of Tennessee. With nearly 20 years as a social worker, Lisa began in human medicine before “switching species” to veterinary social work, where she now supports the people who care for animals.
She serves as an adjunct professor and faculty liaison at Cleveland State University, where she supports the Veterinary Social Work certificate program. Lisa has also contributed to national initiatives through her work with the University of Tennessee Center for Veterinary Social Work, including the Inclusive Vet Med program and AVC Circle.
Lisa is the co-founder of Healing Paws LLC, providing veterinary social work consultation, education and supervision, and a graduate of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Program, where her research focused on reducing stress in veterinary settings using Acceptance and Commitment Training. She currently serves as Co-Director of Education for the International Association of Veterinary Social Work.
In her free time, Lisa enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with her standard poodles, Lincoln and tripod Pretzel. Her soul dog, Scrabble, continues to inspire her work in the human–animal bond.
